Location About Nevada City The Nevada City/Grass Valley area is a mountain paradise in the Sierra Foothills, about 1.5 hours northeast of Sacramento in Northern California. The wilderness abounds just outside of town with the Yuba River watershed, multiple mountain biking trails, and the Tahoe national forest. Nevada City in particular has a charming downtown area with fantastic restaurants, beautiful Victorian architecture, and fun shops and galleries. Harmony Ridge Harmony Ridge is a tiny berg 5 miles east of Nevada City. It is at the perfect late August elevation of 3400 feet. Harmony Ridge Lodge is where Friday night's welcome dinner, Saturday's ceremony and reception will take place. The Lodge itself is nestled at the edge of the Tahoe National Forest. All of our time will be spent outside in the gardens and orchard on the grounds. Parking is limited, please carpool if possible. We are working on setting up a shuttle from a few locations in Nevada City and Grass Valley to Harmony Ridge Lodge. Travel Arrangements If you live in northern California, you've probably spent time here. The drive is easy. Directions to Harmony Ridge Lodge From Sacramento take Interstate 80 east toward Reno for 33 miles. In Auburn take the CA-49 Grass Valley/Placerville exit. At the bottom of this exit ramp, turn left onto CA 193/CA49 toward Grass Valley. After about 25 miles the highway will go through Grass Valley and Nevada City. Stay on the highway past Nevada City. Instead of turning left on 49 toward Downieville, stay straight, and continue on CA-20 toward Truckee. Drive 5 miles on Route 20. Slow down when you see the 5 Mile House Restaurant on your right. Turn right at the next driveway where you will see both the Tahoe National Forest and Harmony Ridge Lodge sign. There is an alternate, more-scenic route through Colfax on CA-174. Don't make the mistake of turning left into the Harmony Ridge Resort!!! We are at the Harmony Ridge Lodge. |
